Andreas Plenge
Quantitative Energy Systems Engineer
Applied mathematician and systems engineer specializing in stochastic modeling, optimization, and real-time decision systems. Building control and forecasting systems for distributed energy assets operating in electricity markets, with emphasis on probabilistic modeling, algorithmic efficiency, and dynamic optimization under uncertainty.
Key Projects
System for providing grid stability through creating virtual power plants
End-to-end platform for aggregating distributed heating assets into virtual power plant portfolios supporting participation in grid support services.
Thesis - Hierarchical IVF with Probabilistic Graph Construction for k-ANNS
Designed a hierarchical generalization of the Inverted File Index (IVF) for approximate nearest neighbor search, independently deriving a structure equivalent to Hierarchical IVF (HIVF) and formalizing it within a probabilistic optimization framework.
Thesis - Differential Equations and Brownian Motion
Investigated the relationship between partial differential equations and stochastic calculus, discovering an alternative proof of harmonic martingales on bounded domains using uniqueness of the heat equation.
Professional Experience
Tech Lead | VPP Systems Engineer at Bodil Energi
Responsible for the architecture and operation of systems enabling distributed energy flexibility and grid-support participation, including the core algorithmic control system coordinating distributed household devices in real time. Serving as the primary in-house engineer, responsible for the systems.
Designed and implemented core real-time coordination algorithms for distributed energy assets, orchestrating real-time coordination of distributed household devices using custom high-performance control algorithms for enabling ancillary services. Conducted code reviews and collaborated with the engineering team to ensure system robustness and maintainability.
IT Consultant | Power BI Developer at KOMBIT
Built governance and reporting tools for public sector clients, automating data workflows and enabling municipalities to detect system misuse.
